夏夜的会昌县城, streetlights twinkle and the air buzzes with life. Wu Mingdong, a returning entrepreneur, pushes his brand-new three-wheeler to a prime spot. He sets up his stall with precision, arranging ingredients and seasoning meticulously. A warm lamp casts a comforting glow as customers start to trickle in, signaling the beginning of a bustling evening. Before embarking on this venture, Wu Mingdong spent years working in Guangdong Province, leaving his elderly parents and children behind. The longing to care for his family led him back home, where he envisioned starting a night market stall. However, the initial investment required — nearly 5,000 yuan for equipment like a three-wheeler, refrigerator, and power supply — seemed daunting. His financial constraints and fears of potential losses kept his plans on hold. His fortunes changed when he learned about a low-cost entrepreneurship policy designed to assist those facing employment challenges. This initiative, part of the province's social welfare programs, provides support tailored for vulnerable groups such as脱贫劳动力、失业人员、'4050' individuals, and persons with disabilities. Eligible applicants can receive up to 5,000 yuan worth of equipment free of charge. If they maintain stable operations for six months and pass a review, the equipment becomes their property, with any difference below 5,000 yuan compensated in cash — making it possible to start a business without initial investment. Eager to give it a try, Wu Mingdong enrolled in a free entrepreneurship training program. He delved into learning cooking techniques, food safety standards, and essential skills like location selection, operation management, and customer retention strategies. On May 20th, during a county-organized event for low-cost创业技能培训暨设备租赁签约仪式 (skills training and equipment leasing signing ceremony), Wu Mingdong was among 27 successful applicants who received their设备 subsidies. With the policy's backing, Wu Mingdong's night market stall flourished. Currently, his摊位 sees steady business, generating several hundred yuan daily. This allows him to care for his family while maintaining a stable income, setting him on a path of upward mobility. "Working close to home lets me balance earning and family responsibilities," he says with satisfaction. Wu Mingdong is not alone in benefiting from these efforts. Across the county, 41 individuals have found new opportunities through this program. The government has distributed over 200,000 yuan in subsidies, boosting average monthly income by about 2,000 yuan per beneficiary. To promote awareness of the policies, officials have conducted 42 training sessions and issued 477 million yuan worth of创业担保 loans, creating a comprehensive support system for aspiring entrepreneurs. According to Yang Suzhen, an employee at会昌县就业创业服务中心, the county remains committed to addressing the needs of创业者. By refining service measures and expanding policy coverage, they aim to empower more individuals to pursue sustainable and successful entrepreneurial ventures.
